Work Day on Swan Island

Local Business Group Lends a Hand on Swan Island:

Perkins Township, ME- June 16th, 2007- On a Beautiful sunny Saturday, 10 members and friends of the Merrymeeting Bay Business Association cleared trails on Swan Island. The team of ten wielded shovel, rakes and brush cutters and cleared nearly a mile of neglected trail for the Maine State Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. The group was amazed at the beauty of the island with many member of the group admitting this was their first visit to the island. Eric Haram, Bowdoinham resident and an administrator at Midcoast Hospital said: "When you step off the boat you feel like you have stepped back in time. The grounds are gorgeous and the backdrops of the old houses are dramatic. I am glad I was able to help maintain this local and state treasure"
